AFTER ANDREW PLIMER (BRITISH 1763-1837) AFTER ANDREW PLIMER (BRITISH 1763-1837) Portrait miniature of a Lady, wearing white 'empire' line dress with white bandeau in her long hair unpowdered hair, cloud and sky background bears initials, A.P., lower left watercolour on ivory gilt-metal frame oval, 112mm (4 1/2 ins) high gilt-metal frame The present miniature is similar to Andrew Plimer's portrait of Hon. Anne Rushout exhibited at the 'Art Gallery of Ontario' also the artist's tracing of Mrs S Bowles, dated 1810. However, the extraordinary size, 4 1/2 in in height, was not typical of Plimer's work and the present example may have been inspired by these portraits and painted by a later hand.
