Armida in loose-fitting pink shift with a white rose in her upswept hair, Rinaldo in blue drapery with a garland of flowers in his curly dark hair, woodland background watercolour and bodycolour on ivory gilt-metal frame with spiral surmount oval, 76mm (3 ins) high _x000D_ The composition in the present miniature is almost identical to that in a miniature by Carriera in the Duke of Devonshire's collection, the exception being that Rinaldo is depicted looking directly at Armida.
