Superb Louis XV period cartel in polychrome marquetry by (HENTSCHEL in Strasbourg), circa 1760.
Enamel dial with Roman numerals for the hours and Arabic numerals for the minutes. Steel Louis XV hands.
Beautiful and rare gilt brass movement, with eight days power reserve, pendulum balance with wire suspension, striking of the hours and quarters on three bells (located in the upper part of the cartel) and, striking on demand by pulling on a cord at 10 o'clock.
The movement and the ringing work, but a restoration is to be expected.
Magnificent cabinet in marquetry of polychrome tinted horn and brass, with floral decoration (several lacks to the marquetry and raises).
Very beautiful ornamentation of chased and gilded bronzes.
