BAKHEISH carpet (Persia), late 18th century, early 19th century
Dimensions : 290 x 150cm
Technical characteristics : Wool velvet on wool foundation.
Five borders, more or less wide, multicoloured and all with different and polychrome vegetal decorations, frame a narrow midnight blue field with the "Herati" ornament, a sowing of polychrome stylised flowers. Four cream crenellated spandrels enrich the whole.
