ISPAHAN carpet (Persia), early 20th century
Dimensions : 240 x 151cm
Technical characteristics : Wool velvet on a cotton foundation.
Five ivory and navy borders with scrolls and interlacing flowers frame the main ruby with a succession of floral corollas on polychrome flower stems. The whole encloses an oblong beige field with arabesques, which supports in its center, in the middle of multicolored plant interlacing, an impressive cruciform medallion, poly-lobed of the most beautiful effect. Four cherry red spandrels with flowers and scrolls complete the set.
