TABRIZ carpet woven in the famous workshop of the master weaver DJAFFER (Persia), end of the 19th century
Dimensions : 222 x 142cm
Technical characteristics : Wool velvet on a cotton foundation.
The frame consists of seven borders, symbolizing the seven steps leading to paradise. The main one is anthracite with interlacing floral branches and six smaller ones, ivory and brick, with garlands of flowers. They frame a plain purple field supporting an oblong anthracite medallion with crenellations and ivory rosettes. Four large arabesque spandrels with the same type of decoration, enriched with ivory lotus flowers complete the "Ghab Korani" harmonious composition.
