MELAYER carpet (Persia), late 19th century Dimensions : 200 x 115cm Technical characteristics : Wool velvet on a cotton foundation. A jagged brick counter field, oblong and with double niches, where two stylized floral compositions are suspended, supports a curious anthracite crenellated rectangular medallion, covered with a multicoloured stylized flower pattern. Anthracite floral spandrels running through. Two ivory counter borders enclose the main brick, all three with garlands of polychrome flowers.
