MELAYER carpet (Persia), late 19th century Dimensions : 210 x 127cm Technical characteristics : Wool velvet on a cotton foundation. A navy field supports an ivory, hexagonal, oblong and arabesque counter-field; it serves as a case for a navy medallion, lozenge-shaped with spearheads. The whole is covered with an inextricable sowing of small stylized flowers, multicolored. Four counter borders, two cream with small "Kotchaks" and two brick with flowers frame the main bluish border with polychrome flowered stems.
