COPPÉE, François (1842-1908), French writer, autograph letter signed, dated 3 November 1894, 1 page in-12, addressed to [Octave] Uzanne (1852-1931), journalist and bibliophile. Coppée has completely forgotten that he has "accepted, for Wednesday, an invitation to dine at the home of Princess Mathilde, my old friend, with whom I am very late in being polite. [...] If therefore - which I dare not suggest - you cannot change by putting off the day of your meeting for a few days, I can only ask you to forgive me"... Etc. (small tear at one fold without loss of material).
