This lot consists of a 19th century astrological yantra diagram, designed to invoke the god Hanuman. Yantras are used in the tantric context and during meditation practices to reach enlightenment. This one represents Hanuman crushing demons under his feet. Numerous devanagari inscriptions adorn the page, some inscribed directly on the body parts of the god.
A second painting on canvas depicts the Jagannath Temple trilogy in Puri, surrounded by devotees, mythical animals in the lower part, and zoomorphic figures in the upper part. The scene is framed by a black fillet and a red frieze with white flowers.
