Memories of a sailor photographer of the late 1850s
Album partially unbound, black percaline, titled Album of photographs on the front cover and Charles Laurent on the back, 60 small and medium size albumen prints, 210?x?150 mm or 110?x?90 mm, several leaves cut out or missing.
Numerous portraits of sailors on board sailing ships, scenes of swimming in the jungle or in waterfalls, sailors are naked in paradise. South American style churches, sugar cane harvesting, probably in Cuba, some cyanotypes from a later trip to South East Asia. The Musée d'Orsay has an albumen portrait of Charles Laurent by Disdéri from 1859.
