The author was born into one of the most important Ottoman and Tunisian religious
Tunisian religious lineage in the 19th century. In 1902, he was appointed director of the official press. In 1919, he was appointed caïd-governor of Gabès and Bizerte. Having reached the age of retirement, he became a government advisor until his death.
