Dental surgery case called "tooth box", by Martin Guillaume Biennais
In flamed mahogany, richly decorated on the top, in silver and ebony inlays, with a virgin shield crowned with foliage, held by two griffins and adorned with a palmette, bordered by a series of flowers, stars and small palmettes.
Silver box plate engraved: "Biennais Md Orfèvre Tabletier Ebeniste au Singe Violet rue St Honoré n°511".
Opened, it presents on the side:
- Two small cut crystal bottles with gold screw caps (H. 30 mm) and a small eight-sided gold box (32 x 55 x H. 13 mm, gross weight of the whole: 45 g)
As well as two mahogany trays, superimposed, each one containing seven different rugines and dental instruments.
The 14 instruments have a gold handle (18 carats) worked on the sides and decorated in chiselling with a series of palmettes.
Gross weight of the instruments: 215 g.
Underneath, a chisel with chiselled branches, in polished steel.
