(Joints broken, spine somewhat damaged, minimally spotted, somewhat light-margined and bumped). - First book edition. - No. 19 of 150 copies, signed by the author in the printer's note. - Arntz 59-77. An under-appreciated book that deserves to be counted among the best of the illustrated works of our century" (Bolliger). - The woodcuts were printed by Otto von Holten in Berlin from Arp's original blocks, which were subsequently destroyed. Printed on Nuremberg laid paper with the watermark "Giorgio Adamo Beckh in Norimberga", a paper of strong feel on which Otto von Holten printed several Dada works.- Endpapers slightly shaded with glue, slight browning of the pages facing the woodcuts due to rubbing, in places minimally spotted. - Copy with wide margins. - Uncut. Above the printing note with note of donation in pencil: "Gift from Mrs. Tristan Tzara, who [took] her maiden name again after the divorce: Mrs. Knudsen, a Swedish painter living in Paris. 1968. K.
