Dated. Trier 1783. with calligraphed title with frame border, 16 calligraphed headings, mostly with floral or ornamental borders, and 6 floral final vign. (all in ink pen), calligraphed caption with colored watercolor floral border, and 4 bound copper engravings in stipple manner by J. G. Remmele in Augsburg; each page framed. 190 (recte 194) pp., 1 fol. - Bindery d. Zt. with ribbon. "Catholic Prayer Book", spine fillets and cover border (somewhat scuffed). - Prayer book with title and headings in finest calligraphy with various ornamental fonts and varied motifs in pen drawing. - The scribe's initials "I. A. S." and the year of manufacture are inscribed on the title, as well as, in hardly legible letters from a twisted band, the place of manufacture, Trier. Included are prayers for Morning Prayer, for the Heart of Jesus, for the individual elements of the Mass liturgy, for Matrimony, before and after Confession, before and after Communion, prayers of the day to the Mother of God, the prayer of St. Bernard to the Mother of God, prayers to St. John, St. Catherine, St. Aloisius, St. Bernard, St. Joseph and St. Anthony, to the Holy Guardian Angel, to the Holy Trinity, to the Sweet Name of Jesus, to the Holy Sacrament of the Altar, to Christ on the Cross and for the deceased. - The engravings show the Heart of Jesus, the picture of grace of Kevelaer with Mary as patroness of Luxembourg, St. Catherine and St. Aloisius of Gonzaga (caption cut).- Slightly spotted. - premium 20% + 19% VAT on hammer price and premium
