The character represented by Daumier (...) that we can qualify as "goyesque" could be Thiers? At least the artist did it with this politician in mind, whom he had to charge so many times. (...) The actor Jean Vilar, who owned some of these figures, was particularly attached to this one, which he considered the most extraordinary (the most "theatrical", to be exact) of the series.
