CAYENNE. - PARIZOT (the knight). Letter written after the victory of the vice-admiral d'Estrées on the Dutch fleet which occupied Cayenne. At Cajene, January 8, 1677. Autograph letter signed, in-4 of 4 pages. Letter written from Cayenne in the XVIIth century: interesting testimony of a young volunteer who embarked in Brest in October 1676 in the fleet of vice-admiral d'Estrées. The knight Parizot writes to his brother and informs him of the victory in Cayenne and of the sending of a galliot that we took from the Dutch [...] to bring the news of our happy success. He asks him to see if the report of the capture of Cayenne that M. the vice-admiral sent to M. de Seignelay, Colbert's son, arrives in Paris. Details on the crossing to Cayenne, the extreme heat, the danger of the corsairs, the heavy and hot Bordeaux wine drunk on board, life aboard the ship, etc.: the count of Estrées de la Loire, the captain of the ship, and the captain of the ship.
