Turin, 1876 - 1953 Ploughing Signed A Lupo and dated 1910 lower left Oil on cardboard, 32X43 cm Provenance: Rome, Galleria d'Arte Berardi Rome, private collection Publications: G. Berardi, Quadri di un esposizione. Opere dalle mostre pubbliche tra Ottocento e Novecento (Works from public exhibitions between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries), Galleria Berardi, Rome, 2014, pp. 52-53 A pupil of Vittorio Cavalleri, Lupo devoted himself to Alpine landscapes, particularly of the Aosta Valley but also lagoon views with hints, at times, of a Ciardian flavour, alongside which one can find still lifes, figures and portraits. The subjects are defined by a consistent material texture, which distinguishes the painter's style, illuminated by the superimposition of large backgrounds, which gradually develop into small concentrated touches of pungent luminosity.
