James Webb was an acclaimed painter of seascapes and landscapes and spent his whole life in Chelsea. Between 1850 and 1888 he exhibited at the Royal Academy and the British Institute, and today many of his works are in the Victoria and Albert Museum and the Tate Gallery in London.
