The artist, of humble origins, attended the Brera school and the Castello Sforzesco in Milan, where he was a pupil of the sculptor Giuseppe Graziosi: his production soon turned towards a realism based on observation and on the search for truth, which avoided any formalism and distanced itself from contemporary abstract or informal research. Refractory to any theorizing and superficial adherence to the trends of the moment, Mozzanica took refuge in his workshop where he tirelessly produced medallions and bas-reliefs. His work tells us of an extreme knowledge of anatomy, testified also by some notebooks with very accurate sketches, which translates into a harmonious rendering of proportions, always studied with scientific rigour. This search for harmony, rule and completeness is expressed in works often characterized by a great classicism and sometimes explicitly inspired by ancient art. The artist's participations in local and national exhibitions are numerous.
