Oil on canvas, cm 111X161
Born into a Waldensian family, Paolo Paschetto attended the Institute of Fine Arts in Rome, where he was professor of ornament from 1914 to 1948: in 1948 he won the competition for the Emblem of the Italian Republic. His interest in the decorative arts and his continuous search for new means of expression led this artist to deal with different forms of expression, from graphics to woodcuts. Influenced by the Art Nouveau, Art Deco and Art Nouveau styles, Paschetto was also the author of illustrations for the evangelical magazines of the time, Bilychnis and Conscientia, the wall decorations of the Baptist Temple in Rome, the Teatro Valle and the cartoons for the stained glass windows of the Waldensian and Methodist temples in Rome.
