The Dream of Happiness is a painting by Constance Meyer exhibited at the Salon in 1819. This work is the result of the collaboration between Constance Meyer and her master Pierre-Paul Prud'hon, the latter having made a large number of sketches and preparatory drawings for the painting. Our drawing by Prud'hon is a study for the head of the young man observing his sleeping wife.
The painting, which is in the Louvre, depicts a boat with a woman and her child asleep in it, resting on the husband who is holding the rudder. The couple is accompanied on their river journey by Fortune, whose drapery moves the boat forward, and by Love, who also holds the oars.
