Born and died in Florence, Domenico di Bartolomeo Ubaldini, known as "Domenico Puligo", was an Italian painter of portraits, but especially of religious compositions.
Trained by Domenico Ghirlandaio (1449-1494), his main master was Andrea del Sarto (1486-1530) who was also his close friend and who influenced him throughout his career. From his time, Puligo had a reputation as an excellent painter of portraits and easel paintings, but it was above all his religious compositions such as "The Holy Family" that made his reputation. He also collaborated with Ridolfi Ghirlandaio (1483-1561).
Works in the Museums of Cherbourg, Palazzo Pitti Florence, Madrid, Palazzo Borghese Rome, Museo Colonna Rome, Galerie Doria Pamphili, Galerie Czernin and Museo Harrach Vienna.
