SENOUFO DOOR, Ivory Coast
Wood with brown patina, accidents.
H. 130 L. 70 cm
It is decorated in low relief with a rich decoration organized in three registers. In its center, a radiating motif evoking the umbilical scarifications of Senoufo women. On either side of this lineage center, two kpelie masks, surrounded by narrative scenes.
Made by woodcarvers or kulebele, these doors indicate the high dignity of their owner.
