Marcel Gimond trained in sculpture at the École des Beaux-Arts in Lyon before meeting Renoir and Maillol. He moved to Paris in 1920 and participated in the Salons des Indépendants and d'Automne. His works are strongly marked by the influence of his masters, his thoughts on sculpture and his travels. His figures exude a harmonious clarity of volume and a touching vitality.
