Shipwreck of the frigate La Méduse, part of the Senegal expedition, in 1816. Fourth edition, entirely recast, decorated with eight engravings, by M. Géricault and other artists.
In Paris, by Corréard, 1821. In-8 of 1 coloured frontispiece, 507pp. (1)p. of table. In-8, modern half binding of red maroon basane. Smooth spine with gilt fillets. Fourth edition, largely enlarged (the first was published in 1817 and contained only two engravings) of this account by two survivors, the engineer-geographer Corréard and the surgeon Savigny. It contains in particular the trial of the commander of the Méduse and the list of subscriptions in favour of the shipwrecked. Edition decorated with a coloured engraved frontispiece (portrait of King Zaïde) and 8 hors-texte engravings, including the plan of the raft and the reduction of Géricault's painting.
