"My dear Maurice, when you arrive in Nice, an unfortunate combination of circumstances will cause me to be in Paris, so I have decided, in order to beat the devil at cards, to take a plane and return on the 20th, so that I can be in Nice on the last evening. Will you write or telegraph me if the dates are correct and if I will have the chance to be with you. Will you be on your way on the 21st. If not, you are all having lunch at Francine's. Love, Jean".
