"Of a solitary nature, [Galien-Laloue] worked with tenacity and rigour, qualities that earned him an employment with the 'Chemins de fer de l'Ouest' to draw the layout of the rails from Paris to the provincial stations. Galien will also take advantage of this opportunity to paint the surrounding landscapes. He wanted to describe the districts of Paris with a faithful line that respected the perspective of the buildings. In his vision, the scenery is drawn as an architect would, with details of great precision. This can certainly be explained by a childhood spent in the world of theatres..."
