NOUGÉ, Paul René Magritte or The forbidden images. Nineteen reproductions of paintings. Brussels Les Auteurs associés [relay butterfly Éditions La Boétie on the title] (1943) Pet. in-12 (min. rouss. on the false title). Bradel black half-maroquin with framing signed Delapierre, wooden boards unrolled, spine titled gilt throughout, t. gilt, ill. cover and spine cons. First edition. Illustrated with 19 reproductions in b/w including 1 on the cover. Published the same year as Mariën's monograph, it is however a work written 10 years before and from which extracts had appeared in "Le surréalisme au service de la Révolution". Enriched with a double autogr. dispatch signed to Christian Bussy on the false-title : by René Magritte "in all sympathy February 1967" and by Paul Nougé "this late dedication, it is true, but all the more warm 24 April 1967", - of 2 autogr. letters signed by Magritte to the same. A. 2/9/1966: about a radio broadcast on surrealism, of which the painter considers that "What is in question in surrealism, cannot be really manifested during a broadcast on surrealism. Too many "radio" imperatives are in the way". B. 24/6/1967: about the program of June 21 "J'aurai plaisir à vous revoir". - 2 original drawings in graphite, one signed "Magritte", recto verso on 1 sheet 15 x 9 cm. Mounted under a passe-partout inserted at the beginning of the book with an autograph ex-dono signed by Marcel Mariën to the same, specifying "This drawing by René Magritte was given to me by him in 1938". Christian Bussy (1936-2019), Belgian journalist, essayist and literary critic, a great specialist in surrealism.
