MESENS, E.L.T. E.L.T. Mesens presents three surrealist painters. René Magritte, Man Ray, Yves Tanguy. [Brussels imp. Van Buggenhoudt 1937] In-4° : [20] pp. (wetness on the cover reverberating throughout the publication and creating interesting colour effects). Br. with light green cover. Rare catalogue of a collective exhibition organized at the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Brussels from 11 to 22 December 1937. Printed on paper of various colours (orange, green, yellow, grey...) and illustrated with black and white reproductions. Texts by "Jean" [Louis] Scutenaire and André Breton and 3 poems by Paul Éluard. The exhibition presented 76 works including 24 by Magritte, also present with 2 reproductions. ("La clef des songes" and "Le modèle rouge"). Autogr. letter signed by Scutenaire to Christian Bussy "Worn, damaged, soiled, rendered useless [!] by time - like surrealism [...] one of my first public manifestations, of all [drawn heart]". Ref.
