TRENT LEONARD: (1915-1986) New Zealand Group Captain of World War II, Victoria Cross winner for his actions during Operation Ramrod 16 on 3rd May 1943. As a prisoner of war Trent was held in Stalag Luft III and was a participant in the 'Great Escape' of 24th March 1944. A brief A.L.S., L. H. Trent Wg. Cdr., one page, 8vo, Longstanton, Cambridge, 20th May 1954, to a gentleman, explaining that he would be delighted to sign his photograph. Together with a vintage signed 5.75 x 8 photograph of Trent standing in a full-length pose wearing his uniform and with an aircraft in the immediate background. Signed in blue fountain pen ink to the image. The letter is neatly annotated in ink in the hand of a collector to the lower edge. VG, 2
