THREE FRUIT KNIVES FROM THE FAMILY TABLE OF LOUIS-PHILIPPE IER, KING OF THE FRENCH, AT THE CHÂTEAU D'EU.
Engraved with the arms of the Bourbon-Orleans, azure with three golden fleur-de-lis and a silver label, surrounded by the collars of the order of Saint Michael and the Holy Spirit, surmounted by a crown of prince of France.
These three knives bear eloquent witness to the famous silverware commissioned by Charles Christofle for King Louis-Philippe, intended for use at the family table of the sovereign at the Château d'Eu in Normandy, the ancestral and favourite residence of the Princes of Orleans, where Queen Victoria of England stayed twice in 1843 and 1845, sealing the First Entente Cordiale.

Marks: of master on the ferrule of the two knives with gilded handles, for Charles Christofle circa 1844-1848.
These pieces are designated in the State of Christofle Silverware taken out of the Palace of Eu and sent to England to the Orleans family after the revolution of February 1848.
