Hubert MENNE (1920-2015) "The House of the Alchemist", gouache and wax on cardboard, signed lower right and titled on the back. Height. 50 cm. Length 61 cm. Annotated on the reverse "Projet décor pour...". After having worked in the wine trade, alongside his father, Hubert MENNE-CHARRIERE joined, out of passion, the workshop of jewellery and religious art creations of Dominique Piéchaud, sculptor, at 117 Rue du Palais Gallien. In 1965, at the same address, he founded the CENTRE DE FORMATION ARTISTIQUE which received and trained up to 110 young artists until 1990. In 1967, he published a "History of Architecture" at "Editions Eyrolles".
