Young Man with a Cap, ca. 1920
Original oil on canvas
61,5 x 56,5 cm
Signed lower right Marcel-Lenoir
We thank Mrs Marie Ange Namy for confirming the authenticity of this work.
On a grey monochrome background, a young man stands out from three-quarter view. His head is dressed in a green beret. Under it, we can make out a dark hair. Under his black eyebrows, his ochre gaze is linked, and he looks away, lost in his dreams. His rosy face is that of a young man, a youthful prince. He is dressed in an elaborate green shirt, matching his beret. He occupies the entire width of the canvas. The painter sharpens his portrait with a few strokes. This portrait was exhibited at the Marcel-Lenoir Museum during the exhibition on portraiture and reproduced in the catalogue in 2011.
