Cubist portrait of women
Paint-fixed under glass
About 1935
79 x 60 cm
René Buthaud revived the technique of eglomised glass around 1930. This very old practice had been abandoned in the 19th century. The artist researched and produced a few small format pieces using different processes. It was not until 1933 that he produced his first large panel. This realization required a very great control, the process prohibiting any retouching.
