The devil in love. A fantastic novel. Preceded by his life, his trial, and his prophecies and revelations by Gérard de Nerval. Paris, Léon Ganivet, 1845. In-8, half red long-grained morocco with corners, spine ribbed and decorated, untrimmed, illustrated cover and spine preserved (Mercier sr de Cuzin). Sought-after edition, given by Gérard de Nerval, with his preface in the original edition. First printing of the illustration comprising a steel-engraved portrait of Cazotte, six figures outside the text copied from those in the original edition, attributed to Moreau le jeune, and 200 wood-engraved vignettes by Edouard de Beaumont in the text. A very fine copy, bound in pamphlet form, enriched with the illustrated prospectus (4 pages).
