The freed bird, Europe, ca. 1780-1790
Folded fan, the cream silk sheet, richly embroidered with garlands of sequins, and painted with two lozenge-shaped cartels with country landscapes. Oval medallions painted with letters on a blue background are placed alternately. In the centre, in the company of a dog, two young women play with a bird whose cage has just been opened by a young man.
Reverse side: resumption of the outlines of the cartels and sketch of motifs.
White mother-of-pearl mount, cut out, engraved and gilded with oval medallions decorated with burgundy golden nets.
