The coachman and the maid, Europe, circa 1770-1780 Folded fan, the leaf mounted in English style and painted with gouache of a maid seduced by a coachman under the disapproving gaze of a couple. Two medallions with rural subjects on the sides. Sketch of a lone man fishing, on the reverse. Mounted in ivory* finely pierced, cut, engraved and gilded, and enhanced with white mother-of-pearl plates. H.t. 28,5 cm H.f. 13,7 cm (good condition, minor wear) Gross weight : 65 g
