Sauton, 1884. - In-8, bradel burgundy half calf with corners, smooth spine decorated, gilt head, untrimmed, cover and spine preserved (Alfred Farez). First edition of Léon Bloy's first work, of which no large paper copies were made. Copy offered by the author to his friend Amélie Hayem Franck, wife of the collector and patron Charles Hayem (1839-1902). It bears this beautiful autograph letter on the first page: "This book without readers is offered, // As a token of respectful dilection, // by the most fierce & absolute // Catholic // to Madame Charles Hayem, // to the merciful daughter of Israel who // helped him one day. // Léon Bloy " Copy including at the end a "Catalogue of works in French published in Canada on sale at the A.
