[Psychology - Dream - JUNG] This volume is part of a set of documents, manuscripts and books that belonged to Rolland Cahen, the translator of Carl Gustav Jung. The author was a famous Swiss physician and psychiatrist (1875-1961). He was the founder of analytical psychology and an influential thinker of his time. The author of numerous works, his work is linked to the psychoanalysis of Sigmund Freud, of which he was one of the first defenders and from which he later separated because of theoretical and personal differences. In his works, he combines metapsychological and practical reflections on the analytical treatment. Jung devoted his life to clinical practice and the development of psychological theories, but also explored other areas of the humanities: from the comparative study of religions, philosophy and sociology to the criticism of art and literature. Carl Gustav Jung was a pioneer of depth psychology: he emphasized the link between the structure of the psyche (i.e. the "soul", in Jungian terms) and its cultural productions and manifestations. He introduced into his method notions of human sciences drawn from fields of knowledge as diverse as anthropology, alchemy, dream studies, mythology and religion, which enabled him to apprehend the "reality of the soul". Although Jung was not the first to study dreams, his contributions in this field were decisive. He was also responsible for the concepts of "collective unconscious", "archetypes", "individuation", "psychological types", "complex", "active imagination", "psychic determinism" and "synchronicity", among others.
