[Semiology - Psyche - Madness - Symptoms]
This imposing volume by Philippe CHASLIN is a magnificent work on semiology, the study of the symptoms of diseases.
The considerations made by the author focus in particular on mental symptoms.
The author comes back to "the clinical types of patients", to "the examination of diseases", to "treatments" as well as to a more unexpected part dealing with "administrative and legal formalities".
Exciting and amusing studies are carried out such as "coloured hearing" or mystical follies concerning the "golden cock, Gallic cock" (page 749).
The symptoms of madness are all analysed, from the most trivial to the most flagrant, and thus a picture is drawn of the signs of madness. Some sort of large summary tables are also given.
A very useful index is present at the end of the volume presenting the symptoms and listing all the madnesses and dementias to which they relate.
Very nice copy in very good condition, opportunity to be seized!
