Modern psychiatry and medicine [Drugs - Brain - Psychiatry] This lot consists of six books related to medicine and psychiatry. The first volume in this lot is an issue of "Psychotropics", published by Lundbeck in 2000-2001. Lundbeck is a famous international pharmaceutical company specializing in the production and development of drugs for psychiatric and neurological disorders and for all diseases of the Central Nervous System. In this large volume, we find all the drugs offered by the firm. Each drug has a brief description listing a set of recommendations, indications, expected effects as well as the chemical formula and molecular structure of the molecule. The different drugs are used to fight against alcohol dependence, depression, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, schizophrenia, anxiety disorders and bipolar disorders. Two books in this lot are related to the VIII World Congress of Psychiatry, dated 1989. The first of these two copies is the program of this forum in Athens. The days from October 12 to 19, 1989 are detailed with colloquia, discussions, debates and speeches. Large fold-out friezes succinctly present the program of the different days. The second book completes the first one since for each meeting and event, a small summary has been made. Thus, the different sessions have the right to a simplification where the essential theses and the major points debated are listed and indexed. A book entitled "Hospitalisation psychiatrique statistique descriptive" also completes this set. This beautiful statistical volume summarizes in a clear and concise manner the state of psychiatric hospitalization in France today. All the variables are studied: the distribution of hospitals, cases according to regions... The maps, graphs and diagrams are accompanied by descriptive notes that highlight the main results. A very good statistical synthesis with daring comparisons. A small booklet is also included. Entitled "Pocket Atlas of Cranial Magnetic Resonance Imaging", it presents more than 120 images of the brain scanned. The different areas of the brain are studied and highlighted. The brain is represented here on all its layers and in all its senses. Beautiful medical images. The last item in this set is a book entitled "Psychiatry Today, From Diagnosis to Treatment". This imposing volume written under the direction of Professor Bernard GRANGER brings together many specialists in adult, adolescent and child psychiatry. Developments, theories, methods and current psychiatric practices are developed and studied at length in this long volume. All facets of modern psychiatry are present and represented: "Sleep disorders", "Anorexia nervosa", "Anxiety disorders", "Depressive disorders", "Chemotherapies", "Alcoholism", "Somatoform disorders", "Social phobias". This complete and quite didactic set is really within the reach of all to understand the state of psychiatry nowadays. A good set for those who are passionate about medicine, for students or practitioners. The topics covered are diversified and give a good general aspect of the themes studied.
