NoArtist (collectif) – « Composition » impression... Lot n° 71

The Cubism series, of which Composition is a part, is one of the collective's first series (2019). It was entirely generated by Artificial Intelligence: a so-called "generative algorithm" (GANs) was trained on 2,000 digitized works of the cubist movement, including iconic painters like Juan Gris, Robert Delaunay, Henri le Fauconnier. Composition was named in homage to the work of Mondrian, whose influence is strongly evident in the features of this painting. One can recognize Mondrian's shapes and colors (like his work Composition C), but also his own machine signature (blurred aspect, square format, pixels, machine "artifacts") that the artists deliberately put forward.
