AMITHABA Lot n° 78

Bronze with Stones inset Tibet , 18th century Weight: 436 grams Dimensions: 14 x 8 x 5 cm Seated Buddha Amithaba on double lotus throne with beaded rim at the top. Amithaba is seated in dhyanasana with legs crossed and hands folded into each other in his lap. The robe's plaits are fanning out underneath the crossed ankles. The Buddha is adorned with beaded jewellery, large ear pendants and a rich tiara encircling the high chignon. A thin scarf is billowing around his shoulders. The face is gazing slightly down with a smile, as in calm meditation. In his hands he is holding a splendid vessel.
