Bronze with Silver inlaid eyes India , 16th to 17th century ,Orissa Weight: 2971 grams Dimensions: 26 x 18 x 10 cm Standing Sita on a round lotus podest. The depiction is very elegant and minimalistic, only dressed in a loincloth, her posture bent to her right from the waist. Her left arm is stretched down on the side, her thumb is touching the fingertips. The other hand is raised to the side with the same gesture. Her head is tilted to her left side, creating an s-curve. Her hair is tightly fastened into a bun at the back, she has big ears wearing creoles. Her eyes are wide open with red pupils, the lips are smiling widely and her gaze is piercing. There is a small inscription in front of the lotus base. Sita is a protagonist of the Ramayana and known as Mother Goddess or Goddess of Sacrifice and Purity.
