dating: 1861 - 1862 provenance: USA, Rifled, round, 44 cal. barrel, with octagonal base marked 'ALLEN & WHEELOCK, WORCESTER, MASS. U.S. / ALLEN'S PT'S JAN. 13, 1857. DEC. 15, 1857', brass foresight; smooth, six-shot cylinder. Smooth frame, trigger guard with loading lever. Wooden grips, underneath with serial number '3xx'. 70% of black finishing. Scarce. See Flayderman's, only about 700 pieces of this rare revolver were produced in the years 1861-1862, a large portion was used by the 2nd and 3rd Michigan Cavalry Regiments during the Civil War. length 36 cm.
