A small paper fan, the leaf in gold, blue and pastels, a central cartouche showing a naked Venus within the clouds, carrying a flaming torch, Cupid with cherubs at her side, two side vignettes feature more cherubs, frolicking, tiny wings visible, the leaf reserves painted with pastel pink roses and pale green leaves, the monture of pale pink mother of pearl, guard length approx. 7 inches or 18cm, in a rectangular glazed frame. From the collection of the late Judith Kennedy and not included in the sale of her main collection in 2019. Previously purchased in an antiques fair at the Cumberland Hotel in 1978, from Donahue of Portobello Road, (both London, England), for £84 already framed.
