Important gilded bronze statuette of Maravijaya Buddha, his eyes inlaid with mother-of-pearl. He is depicted seated in padmasana meditation posture and bumishparsha mudra - the gesture of taking the earth as a witness - touching the ground with the tips of his fingers to remember earthly pleasures. He is dressed in the uttarasanga monastic robe covering his left shoulder folded in a straight line over his chest. His face, with youthful features, expresses serenity through heavy, half-closed eyelids, indicating his meditative and calm state; the superciliary arches extend over the bridge of his nose. His hair with fine curls is surmounted by the ushnisha cranial protuberance, symbol of his knowledge and spiritual strength. He stands on a base representing a lotus flower. SIAM, Kingdom of Rattanakosin, 19th century. H: 100 ; W: 70 ; D: 45 cm (some wear and tear, overall in good condition). Provenance: Collection of an amateur from Turin in the 1970s and 1980s
