Commemorative medal of the battle of Maida (Calabria, Italy), also called battle of St. Euphemia, on July 04, 1806, which opposed the French imperial troops to the British troops. It is a bronze medal precursor (trial type) to the gold medal awarded to the 17 British senior officers involved in the battle, won by the British (the only battle won by the British against the French). Thereafter, the precursor medals were eventually awarded to lower-ranking soldiers. Condition TTBM++
