Correspondence with Sergei Paleolog ARCHIVES of Andrei BALASHOV (1899-1969) PALEOLOG Sergei (1877-1933) - Autograph Important correspondence with Sergei Nikolaevitch Paleolog including : - LAS, typescript letters, CAS, envelopes from S.Paleolog to A.Balashov. 330 pp. different formats. Typescript letters and copies of typescript letters from A.Balashov to S.Paleolog, signed "Izumets", "Alter Ego". 262 pp. in different formats. 1924-1933. Andrei Balashov decides to create the new emigration union "All for Russia" and asks Sergei Paleolog to support him. The correspondence shows an exchange of opinions about the creation of this union, its structure, its participants and its functions within the Russian Truth Brotherhood and the General Union of Russian Fighters. A.Balashov presents publications made with the accumulated funds and regularly sends his poems to S.Paleolog for publication in Paris. S.Paleolog tells about the news of the Russian Liberation Fund in the Far East and shares contact details of the Chinese Marshal Tzhan-Tsu-Tchan who regularly helps the brotherhood in the Far East. The correspondence includes many documents on the case of Boris Kowerda. S.Paleolog shares his vision of what happened and his emotions. S.Paleolog gives his opinion on many news of the brotherhood. "I feel that the campaign against the Russian Truth Brotherhood is approaching. That our concerned personalities like Miliukov, Melgunov or Struve have not learned anything in emigration. I don't understand why they have only two methods: the tsarist regime fought the socialist revolutionary party with bombs, now they want to fight the Bolsheviks with their ultra-liberal programs. With this 'fight for Russia' we will never get to Russia." The near death of General Wrangel and other tragic events mark Sergei Paleolog. "I am depressed, I am overwhelmed by the news about Petr Nikolaevich Wrangel's condition. I am afraid to even think about a tragic end." After the general's death, Sergei Paleolog is busy perpetuating his memory "At the moment I am devoting all my time to the creation of the Committee of the Memory of General Wrangel and I have somewhat abandoned the business of the fund. In addition (...), I am trying to finally publish my book 'Close to Power'." Paleolog talks a lot about his discussions with General Krasnov, the problems of the Brotherhood, the white emigration organizations in the United States and the situation in Yugoslavia. "I am sad to report that two years ago the Kingdom of Yugoslavia announced that it would no longer accept access to the country for Russians with Nansen passports (...) the country is flooded with Russian exiles."; "Living conditions in Yugoslavia are reminiscent of a lost province of Russia. The prices for housing are very high (...) the climate is curious (...) Food is more expensive than in France, Poland or Czechoslovakia." - Three letters from different personalities addressed to S.Paleolog (one LAS and three typescript letters). 1930-1931, 3 pp. in different formats.
